The Holy Land, 1940s
A Panorama of Jerusalem, taken from the Mount of Olives (low-res)

This panorama of Jerusalem was taken in 1941 from the Mount of Olives by the commanding officer of the Rev. George Bennett's regiment (who himself was a professional photographer during peacetime). I was only able to borrow it briefly, and it spanned 6 A3 boards - which posed certain scanning problems! I took 12 high-resolution scans, but they require very careful work to be stitched together. On this site I have posted two much smaller versions. The small version (below) should have loaded while you were reading this paragraph.

you may prefer to view this without the 3D effect – if so, click on the picture and type 'a'

(but be prepared to wait while the 380K graphic loads!)
