Max Reger was a relatively colourful character... While his 'official' portrait is spectacularly unflattering:

Anyway – just as his organ music is shot through with part-doubling and repetition (which is not a criticism!), his alterations to compositional manuscripts seem to have fairly tautologous... Here are three pages (35-37) from the manuscript of his Variations & Fugue on a Theme by Beethoven for two pianos (op. 86).
